Pamakkule Landscape

This painting was inspired by a collage of images, relating to my science fiction landscape series. Pamakkule, Turkey is unique in that it has these beautiful thermal pools on it’s mountainside. These pools are heated by the Earth and have drawn attraction to many visitors as it is used like a sauna. I find this place fascinating due to its otherworldly nature and to how the pools appear to come from somewhere like the Arctic, but are really full of hot water. I wanted to blend this landscape into a science fiction background because I feel it could be a setting on another planet due to the build up of salt that looks like ice and cool blue water.
